We've all been there... A group project just doesn't work out. Not everybody is pulling their weight, the overview of tasks is long gone, and nobody really knows what to do (or only one person knows and ends up doing all the work).
Because I recognise this situation quite clearly, I became very enthusiastic when I discovered Asana. Asana is a website (and app!) that facilitates and tracks team work. One person can set up a team (and a team name). After the team members have been added, the list of tasks can be made.
Subsequently the tasks can be marked as done, files can be uploaded, appointments can be scheduled, and tasks can be assigned to others. Every action is clearly displayed in a team calendar and in team conversations. A mission and/or goal can be added to keep everybody aim for the same.
The most motivational part of this tool is that it shows a graphic as to how far you and your team are from reaching your goal. The steeper the graph, the harder you have worked. It will also clearly show who has done what and at what time.
This tool is not just great for your own projects, but works amazingly for students as well. No more complicated moments where you wonder if everybody pulled their weight, clear overviews, and you can keep track of how the collaboration is working out for your students.
