Sharing is caring!
Nearpod.com is an amazing presentation tool that allows students to interact with the teacher's presentation directly. Instead of presenting dull slides, Nearpod enables teachers to incorporate quizzes, images, open questions, and drawings. Creating a Nearpod presentation is quite similar to regular PowerPoints, but there are fewer options as regards to style and design.
When using your presentation in class, there is no slideshow on the projector. Each individual student can sign in from a phone or laptop with a given code and see the presentation on their own screen. This allows the teacher to keep track of the students' progress on their own computer, while the pupils watch the slides. The students cannot click through the presentation themselves; it's all teacher paced.
Nearpod is a very useful tool for instruction and allows direct feedback from student and teacher. I find it very useful to directly see whether students have understood my explanation or not, so I can elaborate or skip if necessary.
