I tend to blog about the lesser-known tools to provide everyone with some new insights and ideas. I had assumed that most people were aware of Prezi and its features, but I just recently found out many people haven't heard of this great tool.
Prezi is quite comparable to PowerPoint, but has many more features. The presentations are more like a tour than just a plain slideshow, which makes it much more interesting to watch. The motion really catches your students'/audiences' attention. The spatial dimension that's part of the Prezis only adds to that.
What's interesting about Prezi is that it has tons of templates, ready to use. This means you don't have to spend a lot of time on your presentation in order to create something amazing. Just adding your own texts and images is enough to kick-start your lesson. Adding videos, links or other kinds of media is done easily, too, if you want to liven up your lesson even more.
Each Prezi can be embedded in a website, shared via a link or just shown on the projector.
Of course you can also let your students create their own Prezi. It's very engaging, easy to set up, and the final result is a perfect check of their understanding.
- Internet connection
- Very easy to set up
- Really engages the audience
- Free templates
- Amount of Prezis on one account is limited (for the free version)
- Not interactive
