Sharing is caring!
This week's blog is somewhat shorter, because I am in the middle of an important exam week. Stay tuned for more detailed information on some other tools soon!
Instead of one specific ICT tool, this week's blog is about the concept of a word cloud. Word clouds can be created on for example wordle.net (regular clouds) or tagxedo.com (clouds in all shapes and forms).
A word cloud can be used in several ways. You can create one yourself, to pique your students' interest, but you can also decide to let them create one. It forces them to think in single words (sentences just don't work in word clouds) and it can activate their preknowledge. Plus it's a great tool to let your students present with; they are forced to only look at keywords!
Apart from that, a word cloud is a interesting and bright tool, that - especially in wonderful shapes - will be fun for students to work with.
- Internet connection
- Adobe Flashplayer
- Completely free
- Useful for multiple goals
- Quick and easy
- Only single term phrases can be used.
Have you ever used a word cloud? Please leave a comment!
Any suggestions for another ICT tool? Please let me know!
